One of Krol Corlett’s directors, Simon Krol, reached new heights this autumn when he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
Simon left our Merseyside headquarters for Tanzania in September and spent a few days acclimatising and preparing for the climb before reaching the summit on 25th September 2019.
His achievement follows weeks of training in the UK and an impressive track record of previous mountaineering challenges. After successfully reaching Everest base camp in 2017, he led an expedition of 150 charity climbers up Snowdon last May and has also completed the Three Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing the three highest mountains in the UK – Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon – within 24 hours.
Simon comments: “Even for an experienced climber, Kilimanjaro is a huge challenge because you begin the ascent after only a short trek so your body has to acclimatise very rapidly.
“I’m delighted to have reached the peak and completed the descent safely. I’m sure there will be more challenges ahead in the future but, for now, I’m enjoying being back in the world of construction.”
