Krol Corlett has completed the transformation of North Park Health Centre in Bootle as part of a suite of primary care facility projects for NHS Property Services.
The project is one of three health centre refurbishments awarded to Krol Corlett by NHS Property Services, with a combined value of £1.4 million. The 25-week programme is the first to complete and Krol Corlett is currently on site delivering a similar 25-week programme at Burscough Health Centre, with a 40 week programme due to complete at Prince Street Health Centre in Waterloo in October.
The three projects build on Krol Corlett’s impressive track record of delivering primary care healthcare projects, and the company’s expertise in operational refurbishment. The projects have overlapped on site, with elements of all three delivered concurrently and close co-ordination required between the Krol Corlett team, the client and the management team at each of the three health centres.
Dave Corlett, Krol Corlett’s dedicated NHS sector delivery specialist comments: “All three of these projects have taken place in live healthcare environments where we need to be mindful of the day-to-day activities of staff and the welfare and wellbeing of patients.
“In an environment like this, we have to be responsive to the client and adjust the programme as and when required, so we have taken an agile approach to sequencing the project, adapting the schedule as required to complete the North Park project on time and on budget.”
The North Park Health Centre project has involved refurbishment of all GPs’ rooms, consultation rooms, communal areas, toilets, waiting rooms, and reception. It has also involved improvements to hard and soft landscaping to upgrade the car park. The Krol Corlett team has phased the works to enable the health centre’s management team to decant services into completed areas as the work has progressed. Out of hours working has also been critical to minimise disruption to staff, patients and services.
Dave Corlett continues: “For a project like this, experience of the specific challenges of operational refurbishment in a healthcare setting is vital, as there can be no interruption to patient services.
“Following successful completion of North Park we’re looking forward to handing over Burscough and Prince Street on time and within budget over the next couple of months too.”
